Meet Jack

Jack is the new way forward candidate for DFL chair. Jack brings his working-class philosophy, the New American System, into the race. Jack will take on the billionaire oligarchy that has taken over our government. He has committed to not using any platforms controlled by Google, Amazon, Meta, or X for this campaign.

Jack grew up in a working-class family in Southern Minnesota. The son of a veteran, Jack learned from a young age the value of service to his country. As he grew older, his interest in politics grew as well. He obtained a degree in political science from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he served as president of the MSU College Democrats, participated in political debates, organized for DFL candidates, and led a coalition of youth to numerous victories. After graduating, Jack continued to serve our party by investing thousands of hours without pay to ensure DFL victories across our state. Jack is now running to lead our party in a new way forward.

Jack’s Vision — The New American System

The post-Great Recession era has reshaped American politics, fracturing traditional party allegiances. This upheaval presents a unique opportunity. To attract those disaffected by the current political landscape, the DFL must become a true working-class party, championing the interests of everyday people against the influence of a billionaire oligarchy. This vision, which I call the New American System, offers a clear path forward.

  • We will put power back into the hands of the people who make this party work. We can have a DFL supermajority if we recruit candidates who fit the districts they run in. As party chair, my job will be to unite our local units in a common cause, not dictating to them how to be a “proper” Democrat.

  • We will focus on the economic issues that unite us, rather than being distracted by divisive tactics. Our most important identity is our shared identity as working-class people taking on the billionaire oligarchy. We must be a party that works to reform failed industries that have allowed billionaires to hoard wealth and power at our expense. Additionally, we must lead the charge for a constitutional amendment to undo the harm of Citizens United!

  • We must build on our success by acknowledging the importance of traditionally nonpartisan races like school board and city council. These local races often have a more direct impact on our lives. There are thousands of these races across our state, and by investing in them, we can build a true grassroots movement.

  • We will build on the success of Ken Martin by being a party more open to new ideas. I am the only candidate that has refused to use platforms controlled by Google, Amazon, Meta, or X for this campaign. While social media is needed in most races, it is also important for us to find new ways to reach voters rather than just supporting companies owned by people like Elon Musk.

  • Every county across our state should have Democratic representation at the local level. We can win in these areas. We will reward success with more autonomy.

  • Statewide campaigns will use the resources of rural campaigns while also wasting their time. The coordinated campaign seems to answer to no one and often gets in the way of candidates in Greater Minnesota. It is time to make the coordinated campaign work for us, not the other way around.

  • Candidates across our state have expressed frustrations with a party that has lied to them. We must be more committed to honesty and transparency. Our party members must have trust in us before the community at large can do the same.

  • We vote for Democrats because they fight for us, not because they are saints. While serious offenses require accountability, we need to stop the knee-jerk reaction of demanding resignations for every minor moral failing. The days of throwing fellow Democrats under the bus for quick political gain are over.
